The fall 2018 issue is here! Click the cover to read.
This issue officially marks four years of Hypertrophic. We’ve published some amazing books, created 16 issues of Hypertrophic Literary, and have met some truly inspiring writers who we are now proud to call friends. Running a small press takes a lot of time and commitment, but it’s all worth it when we get to share these voices with our readers.
In our fifth year, we’re going to make some changes. To start, the press will be taking a hiatus for all of 2019. This means we won’t be publishing any books or magazines after the winter 2018 issue comes out in December. There have been some major life changes for our editors, and we’re expecting not one but two Hypertrophic babies very soon. Because of this, we’ve chosen to take a year off to allow our editors to dedicate some time to their new and growing families. Don’t worry – this is not a breakup! We’ll be back in 2020 with a brand new issue and will be working on bringing you yet another book we don’t think the world can do without.
We’ll miss the chaos that is running a small press next year, but all three of us will be back recharged and better than ever in 2020. We will still be active on social media and will continue to promote the work of our past contributors and champion the voices we believe in throughout our hiatus. And if you miss us too much, just get in touch! I’m sure we would all love some adult conversation. In the meantime, submissions will remain open for the winter issue throughout September and we’ll be reading through the end of October. We’re happy to announce that the winter 2018 issue will be guest edited by Christopher D. DiCicco and Anna Pelger-DiCicco, and they’re excited to read your work! And don’t forget about our fast track option if you want a quicker response time. We’re ending 2018 with a bang, and you definitely want to be part of it.
Thank you so much for all the support you’ve given us over these past years – we really couldn’t have made Hypertrophic what it is without our outstanding contributors and readers. We can’t wait to bring you even more new, strong, and loud voices in 2020. We love you all.
