Georgia Bellas

Dance Party Remix

we party-hardy in the hospital

we take over your room, camp out, break

out the disco ball like it’s 1972

                                    we shimmy-shimmy go-go pop

                                                pop on borrowed time

                                                            tripping the light fantastic

giant linoleum squares

spread out like a picnic blanket

                                                                        a makeshift dance floor bleached

of all but desire and the dripdrip

                                                  drip beepbeepbeep of sick bay

                                                                            electronica pulsing pulsing

in my heart is an ant forever carrying the dead

& other crumbs

hem        nightgown

            long fingers

a dream   slow    stirring

            a loose thread

a twitching    brushing

long fingers                  reaching

            a grazing       of skin

half awake                   tangle of sheets

a swatting                     a sting

      sleeping prick

      drunk bee              a death

      ankle                                  a tumescence

velvet body                  crushed

tube of gold       paint

squeezed                      flat

            a stillness
